Ten characters?! A UUID (12 characters) gives more possible combinations than the number of atoms in the universe, so 10 characters has got to be gross overkill for just a physical location on the planet?

If you care about compactness, uber’s h3 library for geolocation will specify to <1.2m accuracy (the width of your front door) anywhere on the globe in 8 digits (base10); which if converted to a character encoding (base32) is only 6 characters — shorter than most postcodes already are.
