Thanks for drawing a really fascinating parallel between consent in a sexual context and in a political one.
Currently living in Britain, where (like in many countries) we’re having rights and opportunities stripped away forcibly by the politicians in charge… despite a three-year-long feeling of being sick to the stomach, I’d never made the link that the peculiar mix of sheer rage and utter helplessness we feel is rooted in lack of consent.
Perhaps reversing this would make a useful way of explaining (to those who have insufficient insight already) into how it feels to be sexually assaulted (albeit much less severe).
