Yes, I agree that developers (especially those working on deeper aspects like underlying threading or numerical libraries, or those working on macOS facing apps) should be running both systems right now in order to tease out the problems.

However, I do target the article at engineers and scientists, so this is an audience who are likely doing technical computing but who are not actually software developers per se - a slightly different crowd than you may be thinking of.
